About Us

about us My husband and I lived in New York City for almost 20 years.  Before we met I was a professional dancer and singer working in Musical Theater, and he was a trader at Bear Stearns.  Searching for something new, we both found ourselves teaching at the Sivananda Yoga Center in Manhattan.  This is where we met and where our journey together began.

Joe and I were both struggling with high pressure jobs in order to earn enough to support a modest 1 bed 1 bath apartment in the city.  Neither of us had the time or the energy to cook or to maintain a regular exercise schedule, and as a result we were literally sick and tired all the time.  Instead of cooking we ordered in from local restaurants, so our portions were huge, and we rarely made healthy choices.  We drank WAY too much.  As far as exercise, we would start some new program, then crash and burn because we couldn’t maintain the the schedule alongside our long work hours.  We were both overweight, unhappy, and struggling to find balance.

We didn’t know what to do, but we knew we needed change badly.  Through a series of fortunate events, we relocated to South Florida and completely restructured our lives. I found myself with zero experience cooking, now in charge of our kitchen and our diets.  I was terrified, but I jumped in head first with no other choice but to learn.

This is a record of my personal experiences and discoveries.
